August 3rd, 2008 at 11:26:39 It's 'The Man with the Golden Arm', directed by Otto Preminger in 1956, and based upon the eponymous novel written by Nelson Algren in 1949. It was one of the first movies ever dealing with such a 'forbidden subject' as drug addiction. It's probably the best interpretation by Frank Sinatra, who snatched the role to Marlon Brando (!!!). Kim Novak, here at her first important movie, is just an heavenly creature, the archetype of Beauty. Glad you appreciate this.Thanks everybody for the comments.
