January 9th, 2009 at 16:17:08 Our democratic predominant congress are siding with Bush, they are signing his bill without the republicans tomorrow, hide and watch. Who we gonna blame now. THis is the most pathetic bunch of congress this country has ever had. I am ashamed.
January 9th, 2009 at 16:40:07 Good start in Jan 19 2008. Today is the weekend of the stockmarket collapse, and suggested buyout. Medical ins does not exist for much of America.Congress has a better medical plan than soldiers & their Families. UNFORGIVABLE!!!! Galveston and Texas are devestated. New oRLEANS IS FORGOTTEN & pRES bUSH LEADS THE CHARGE TO use the poor to save the rich. Nero fiddled as Rome Burned. Drill Baby Drill, Burn Baby Burn. (I saw the fire in Galveston)
January 9th, 2009 at 17:03:06 Greed hasn't left the building its as old as civilization itself and we have not conquered it. America is now run not by pres. or congress its run by Corporations. the middle class is dead its now just the super rich and poor . well looks like were back in the old days of England the Rich king and its poor subjects ....what was the reason why we left England for America ????
January 9th, 2009 at 17:26:05 kinda reminds me of the 80's when 'reaganomics' assured us that if corporations were given a tax break, then as a result of the trickle down effect, we all would benefit. sadly, i was never trickled on.
January 9th, 2009 at 17:49:04 The corporations do along with Congress and the president tote that jobs are being created. NO WAY. As a temporary worker most of my life for these corporations I can say NO! WAY! They even disguise the hiring through agency related hires and false testing practices, training practices.
January 9th, 2009 at 18:12:03 Greed? No, they are doing what is natural which is their job. It is an interesting issue. I'm not sure this is even a tax "loophole" at all. It only came about because the capital gains rate was lowered to encourage companies to give out dividends to shareholders among other things. CEOs get paid almost identical to these guys. They both get a management fee + compensation at the capital gains rate, CEOs:stock options and fund managers: profit on the investments Thank you for sharing this!!!
January 9th, 2009 at 18:35:02 You'll notice these exploiters don't buy up FOREIGN companies and layoff thousands of FOREIGN workers the same way they do here because FOREIGN countries have LAWS against this sort of practice! Only America would they allow moguls to destroy American jobs in the name of "promoting big business to CREATE jobs".
January 9th, 2009 at 18:58:01 yay for samurais and geishas!
January 9th, 2009 at 19:21:00 Not saying that greed doesn't exist, but what I am saying is not everyone has a cruel enough mind and heart to harm another person over a few dollars. :~( Not all of us are like that. I know people, including myself, who are at the poverty line yet has the mind and heart to still give, even though we don't have for ourselves. 50 cents my not be anything, but to the guy under the bridge its a world to him. I get the same joy when my flowers bloom, as if they bloom only for me.
January 9th, 2009 at 19:43:59 I disagree. :/ One can have wants, there is nothing wrong with wanting something, but when it takes killing people, literally killing them, most of us stop, think, have a conscious and heart, and do something about it so that no one gets hurt. Unfortunately people are so obsessed with money, sorry... some people, that they forget about life and the beauty it has to offer. No wonder people pump themselves with drugs and things they don't want to begin with.
January 9th, 2009 at 20:06:58 I feel the same way. :( I wish I didn't and would say something else, but can't. The truth is everything sucks now, except for flowers, samurais and geishas... they make me happy. :)I wish I could say the same for my government. The more I learn of its history the more sad and sorry I feel for the forefathers, they must be rolling in their graves billions of times by now.
January 9th, 2009 at 20:29:57 Impeach Bush/Cheney and all their Republican henchmen for war crimes committed against the American people and against humanity! Our gentle sister Canada has OUR country on a "Torture List;" "We the People" of America, do not condone torture! This administration has destroyed America's reputation in the eyes of the world; if we lose our allies we will be sitting ducks! Demand impeachment hearings NOW!
January 9th, 2009 at 20:52:56 congress is elected by voters, but all the candidates are selected by the corporate oligarchy. the elections process is NOT representational of the will of the people. the machines flip the vote. the electoral college trumps the popular vote. our democracy is a sham. voting does NOTHING!!!
January 9th, 2009 at 21:15:55 we should be paying a retail sales tax and all get food stamps and medicare. Too many people believe in the failed ideology that an unguarded economy and society breeds competition. just the opposite because the wealthiest buy up all the chips and dont allow anyone else to play along.
January 9th, 2009 at 21:38:54 Speak for yourself, Drake...
January 9th, 2009 at 22:01:53 Greed is a sickness that anyone can catch.
